Long Day One but Great Start

Day One of our Family Road-trip 2021 has been long but also very enjoyable.  We started out early this morning, just a little after 5 AM!  We traveled through six states today:   north Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.  Our first stop was in Cave City, Kentucky at our first National Park of this trip:  Mammoth Cave.  We bought our annual park passes here and then took the short self guided trip down into the cave.  We had a picnic lunch here before heading into a long six hour stretch of driving.

After a couple of stops here and there to stretch our legs, we made it to Chicago.  We were starving and had our hearts set on eating deep dish pizza from Giordanos but there was a two hour wait!  We went around the corner and ate at a grill called Sweetwater.  After our meal we walked over to Millennial park to find the “bean”. It was quite larger than we had anticipated.

After “check marking” that off our bucket list we got back to our cars, got a little lost in the underground streets of downtown Chicago and then finally back on the interstate to drive two more hours to Madison, Wisconsin, where we stayed our first night of the trip.

We are so thankful to God for giving us safety on our longest travel day.  Please pray with us that He continues to protect us as we travel!
