Day Seven: Goodbye Glacier, Hello Idaho

We were able to sleep in this morning a little bit. Once awake, we cooked bacon, eggs and French toast for breakfast. After packing everything up, we hit the roads around 8:15 AM. Our plans were to drive half the trip and stop in Butte (pronounced “beaut” which I learned from Google maps), Montana for lunch.  I drove this part while Daniel worked on his homework.  Mountains, Lakes and tall pointy evergreen trees pretty much sums up the drive.  Thankfully, it was an easy drive on good roads (none town up or having construction) and 70 mph speed limit. Nearly the whole way.

We ate lunch at a little sandwich shop in Butte, called The Wildflower Cafe.  I had found it while researching for the trip and added it to the itinerary.  It was pretty good and different from what we had been eating on the trip so far.  However, I’m good if I never eat there again.

We hopped back on the roads and got to drive Interstate 15 (80 mph) for most of the remainder of today’s drive south into Idaho.  Lots of brown rocky mounds and mountains in the distance for much of this drive.

We arrived to our cabin in Driggs, ID. It’s beautiful here.  It’s in Teton Valley and surrounded by mountains.  You can see the tip of the Great Teton from the kitchen window.  We had enough time to drop our bags and load up again to head over to Jackson, WY. We took the pass through the mountains that’s almost straight up and then straight down again with terrific views.

In Jackson, we had reservations for the Bar J Chuckwagon Dinner and Show.  I found this on Pinterest and when I visited their website, it said it was their last season after 44 years!  It was hard to secure tickets but we finally did.  It was a really neat experience with great cowboy food and entertainment.  The Wranglers did a great job singing, playing their instruments and providing comic relief as well.

We got back to our cabin for a good nights sleep and ready for tomorrow’s adventure in the Great Teton National Park.
