Day Two: Wisconsin Cheese and Minnesota Mall

Since today would be a shorter drive day (4 hours), we slept in a bit before getting started on day two of our trip.  The drive from Wisconsin to Minnesota was nice. We enjoyed the difference in scenery.  Lots of evergreen trees, corn fields and dead deer on the side of the interstate.

I told Daniel that before we left Wisconsin, I needed to get cheese!  And of course we were told we needed to try the cheese curds.  We saw a sign for Cady Cheese Factory and Store and took the short detour to get to it.  When we walked in, we saw several cooler cases filled with all sorts of cheese. We picked a few and as we neared the cash register, I finally saw a tray with bags of cheese curds.  I told Daniel this was what we had to get and he said “Are you sure that’s what you want?”  Right at that time, a lady came in beside us, picked up three bags and laid them at the counter to pay. Daniel laughed and said well maybe we need to ask her if these are good.  She exclaimed “Yes, that’s why I came here (as if that’s the reason why everyone comes there). The ladies behind the counter asked if we wanted to sample and so we did.  They are definitely different tasting but good enough for us to buy a bag!

Our next stop was Mall of America!  This was Logan’s request for this trip   It was huge!  We spent the rest of the afternoon walking all over it. We spilt up so everyone could go where they liked.  Alex and Amelia hit up the Lego store and went through a mirror maze. Andrew, Annessa and Logan shopped. Daniel found an arcade and I got a pedicure!

After getting checked into our hotel, we were ready to eat dinner   While looking to see what restaurants were close by, we were happy to discover there was a Giordano’s about 9 minutes away.  We finally got our Chicago style deep dish pizza   So good!  And our waitress, Joy, was so sweet!  Of course she had to ask where we were from, as she didn’t recognize our accents. It was a great dinner.

The kids went back to the Mall to ride go karts while Daniel and I went to get coffee and back to the hotel. We are looking forward to going to worship in the morning, not too far from our hotel.
